Family Home Inspections includes Radon testing with each inspection.
Radon is a cancer causing, radioactive gas that you cannot see, smell or taste. It is produced by the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water and high levels of radon have been found in every state in the US. One in fifteen homes in the US have radon levels above the EPA action level. According to the National Academy of Sciences, radon is estimated to cause approximately 21,000 deaths per year and is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.
Samples taken by Family Home Inspections are analyzed by a fully accredited, state of the art laboratory facility that provides radon analysis services for consumers, professional radon testers, government agencies and corporations. The laboratory uses the same procedures and technology as developed by the Department of Energy’s Environmental Measurement Laboratory. Personnel are credentialed by the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) and the NEHA-NRPP.
